Maesteg RFC's preparation are well underway for the forthcoming 2017/18 season with training having started back in June. This weekend, Saturday 5th August, sees the next step in the preparation for the new season when Maesteg will play in the annual Ev's 7s tournament in Tondu. The tournament will take place at Coleg Cymunedol-y-dderwen in Ynysawdre, gates open at 9:30am.
Next week, Saturday 12th August, sees the pre-season return to the 15-a-side setup where Maesteg will travel to Caerphilly RFC for a friendly match, kick off at 2:30pm. Ex-Maesteg favourite Brett Davey is currently part of the Cheeseman's coaching setup.
The following Saturday, 19th August, will see Ebbw Vale RFC visit The Old Parish Ground for the first time in a number of years in our second preseason game, kick off at 2:30pm.
The preseason fixtures concludes with a match against Pencoed RFC, again at The Old Parish Ground, on Wednesday 23rd August, 7:15pm kick off.
The season proper starts with a home match against our good friends from Tondu RFC on their return to Division One after their successful season in Division Two last year.
