Maesteg RFC are pleased to announce that Nathan Edwards has joined the club as the new senior backs coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Nathan started his rugby journey with Maesteg Welsh before going on to have a long rugby career playing at Welsh Premiership level for Bridgend, Newport & Llanelli and retired from playing at the end of last season in May 2023. Nathan has previous coaching experience having been involved in the Ospreys U16’s & U18’s setups.
On his appointment, Edwards said “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this proud and historic club. Being a Maesteg boy, I remember fondly the days of premiership rugby, watching on from the stands in awe. It is clear that the club and squad are ambitious and focused on restoring the clubs former glory. This was something that appealed to me greatly and something I wanted to be a part of. It’s not often you get to start your senior coaching career at the club where you started playing as a 9 year old. I’m very grateful to the club for the opportunity they have presented me and excited for the season ahead”
Forwards coach Stephen Tremlett commented: “I’m really excited to work with Nathan. He will bring allot of knowledge due to the level he has played at. He’ll bring fresh ideas that will take us further as a squad to get that promotion we crave. Can't wait to get started with him”.
