The devastating news came through earlier this week of sad passing of former club captain and coach Billy Pole. Billy, recently recoginsed for his services to the club as one of the first reciepients of a Maesteg RFC Recognition of Service Cap, played 272 times for Maesteg scoring 48 tries, 3 conversions and 4 penalties. A points total of 197. Billy made his debut in 1967 and after five seasons left for Bridgend in 1972. He returned to the Old Parish in 1975 and captained the club for 3 consecutive seasons. With Peter Williams and Terry Dunne as coaches Billy was instrumental in starting t.....
